Confused about how to fix the elevator in Amnesia Rebirth? No worries, we have you covered!

You’ll notice a paper next to the elevator, you’re looking for the winch that the person circled in the image below. 

It’s on the same floor, next to the kitchen. Explore about, and you’ll be able to grab the winch from the crossbow as showed in the diagram below.

Return to the elevator, and bring up the item screen. Select the winch, then click the elevator mechanical piece to insert the winch into the elevator as shown below. That’s one step to getting the elevator fixed!

But if you try to use the elevator now, it works, but you’ll fall through the floor. Grab a wooden plank and bring it to the elevator. You need to insert the wooden plank vertically, not horizontally, as shown below. Wedge it into place as so. Where to find the wooden plank? Turn around from the elevator and head left out, a wooden plank is right there, but there are other wooden planks scattered throughout the fortress as well.

Now stand on the wooden plank and use the elevator, you can now reach the upper floors of the fortress.
