How to fix your hotel room shower in the Elusive Water Valve Side Quest!

When you use the shower in your hotel room, Francis York Morgan will complain about how hotels are cheap and that most hotels have a low water pressure in the showers.

Eventually after using it once or twice, it will stop working and you will automatically obtain the “The Elusive Water Valve” sidequest. 

Although this is only a sidequest, you NEED to complete this sidequest because the main questline can take 20 hours, which means multiple in-game days, as well as certain main questlines that can only be completed on certain days means a lot of waiting too…

The issue is that after about 2 days, Francis York Morgan will become smelly (“B.O.”) and you will see flies hovering around him. This makes it annoying because these flies will surround Francis during major game cutscenes, BUT ALSO, talking to any NPC will result in a B.O. fine of ~$100-300 each time! Since you need to talk to dozens of NPC’s to complete the main storyline, you will easily be losing upwards of a thousand dollars each day alone! So it’s imperative you do this sidequest as quickly as possible! 

Steps to completing The Elusive Water Valve

If you try talking to the bellboy in the ground floor lobby of the hotel, he’ll say he’s in an important business meeting.

Talk to the concierge at the desk to the left of the stairs on the lobby, BUT, you can’t use the bell to call him.

If you use the bell to call him, it opens up a menu for buying items, but you won’t actually be able to talk to him for the sidequest. Instead, look for when he’s already behind the desk, and talk to him directly without interacting with the bell. Pack some food and just wait until he arrives, try smoking cigarettes (you can buy them at the bell) to pass the time as well until you find him behind the desk already, but you will need to go outside to smoke. I smoke outside until ~16:30, then go inside the hotel to find him already behind the desk.

When you talk to him, he will tell you to interact with the valves directly.

Go to the restaurant on the top floor of the hotel and interact with the valve (remember to click on the images to see them in high resolution):

 

Go back to the concierge, again you can’t use the bell, he has to already be behind the desk. 16:30 works for me.

Go to the bellboy, 9:30 works for me.

Go to the second floor and adjust the water valve, screenshot below:

Go to the chef in the restaurant on the top floor, 12:30 worked for me. 

Now go to the lobby men’s washroom and interact with the water valve, screenshow below:

Congratulations, your shower is fixed!
