How to Recruit All Characters in Gales of Nayeli (Updated for the newest patch)

Make sure to do the optional chapters as soon as they appear to get the characters that appear in them otherwise they will disappear. Many optional chapters unlocked automatically but if there’s a requirement I’ll let you know. There are likely other characters you can use to talk to recruit but I found these to be the easiest.

Four recruits require unique Heart items, I will list when you get them. Some recruits require support conversations to hit a certain level and they are missable, so I will warn you as soon as you get the two characters whose paired support is required. If you need support level 2 or 3 bear in mind that the earlier support levels are missable so make sure to trigger earlier supports as soon as you’re able to in the base conversations.

Make sure you have a staff-user who can use a Rescue Staff in Chapter 13 in order to obtain a recruit! You can get it from an enemy in Chapter 6EX – Fleet of Foot and from visiting a house in Chapter 9 – Swamped. (It turns out there is a collectible consumable item on that map that allows Rogue units to rescue units so you can use that instead, but I’ll still keep this warning in.)

This guide is designed to help you get all steps of recruitment as you read through it. So say a recruit in chapter 18 requires an item from chapter 6EX, I’ll warn you early on in chapter 6EX first to get the item, and then remind you to use the item in chapter 18 too.

See this page instead if you want a full detailed walkthrough with maps.

You need to have Flynn move towards Ciara and trigger a conversation to allow you to Rescue her, if you don’t trigger the conversation then Ciara is unselectable.
