Your dialog choices are important with Ryuji, and you do need a matching arcana persona when talking to Ryuji for a bonus. The exceptions are Rank 0→1 and Rank 9→10, where dialog choices and matching arcana persona don’t matter. Below are the recommended responses for this confidant, for Persona 5 Royal with official English localizations.
