In the cistern, the giant caves after the fortress, you will notice a puzzle with three wheels that move different platforms and sluices. The first thing to do is to move the platform so it is between the two gates, so that you can jump to the second gate.

Make your way through that second open gate by jumping onto the platforms. Go through the cave, but there are two exits, one leads to the other gate, while another exit leads to the open area above this gate.

If you go through the cave and get to the open area above the gate, as shown below, that’s not the correct exit but we’ll use that later, backtrack a little and go through to get to the other side of the closed gate.

When you get to the other side of the gate, you will see a chained body and a bone blocking the gate. Clean it up and toss out those obstructions so that the gate can open/close freely.

Return to the three wheels. As illustrated below, and you need to be quick with this, turn the right wheel to move the platform tank up, then go to the leftmost wheel and turn that quickly to open the gates which have extended platforms, this will block the other platform tank from being able to go down. Then, go through the first open gate now and go to the upper exit you might’ve seen earlier. Now the platform will be there, and you can go across to the next part of the game.
