The first forced trip to Kaneshiro’s Palace is on-rails, you are forced to meet Kaneshiro, and you recruit Makoto, who specializes in nuclear skills.

Near the end of the fight, he will get two bodyguards, one of which will always take the hit if you try to aim an attack at Kaneshiro. You can defeat the bodyguards, but if you raise your defense and wait a few turns, eventually Kaneshiro will run out of money, and the bodyguards will leave.
